We asked leading periodontists
and dental professionals around the UK to let us
know their views on Gengigel, and this is what
they had to say...
" As a Periodontist
I am always looking for ways to supplement
my treatment options. I currently use Gengigel
and intend to further develop it's use
within periodontal and implant therapies
in my own
practice "
Ian Peace, Nottingham
" I was already aware
that because of its ability to promote skin
cell
renewal, hyaluronic
acid has long been used in the treatments
of burns. However, my first experience
of using a hyaluronan gel in dentistry
was really quite amazing.
The
patient’s gums were in a poor
state and many of her teeth were what we
would call ‘periodontally terminal’.
When I next saw the patient I first thought
I’d picked up the wrong notes! Convinced
of the seriousness of her poor gum health
she’d been applying Gengigel every
few hours, for nearly three weeks. The healing
response was the best that I’d seen
and Gengigel is now my routine recommendation.
"
Sandy Furlong, Dental Hygienist
" I have been
using Gengigel for approximately 20 months,
and found it not only to be clinically
effective at reducing bleeding and pocket
depths, but also safe to use and well tolerated
by our patients. It has given me the confidence
to tackle periodontal disease head-on with
results noticeable to myself and more importantly
the patient. Certainly, one of the best
of a new generation of agents used in the
treatment of periodontal disease.”
Amit Koshal BDS (Hons.) MFGDP (UK)
““I don’t
like to see the Dental Hygienist – it
hurts too much after treatment on my gums – they’re
sore as it is!” a typical comment
from some of our patients.
When I first read about Gengigel, I
thought it was too good to be true. Closer
inspection and from hearing about the
biochemistry behind its formulation I
was persuaded to re-think my initial
scepticism and trial this with the consent
of my patients.
Initially patients were given the gel
to use following a visit to the hygienist
to apply as a soothing and conditioning
agent. The results were impressive! and
patients typically reported very quick
resolution of gum swelling and very little
soreness.
I have subsequently prescribed Gengigel
following gum surgery or indeed any gingival
trauma situation, including deep subgingival
restorations, as well as following crown
preparation, with equally impressive
results. Our major use now is also following
surgery at all stages of dental implant
provision - right from first stage to
final restoration!
I cannot recommend
this formulation highly enough and
as an adjunct to dental
implant treatment this has been a revelation!”

“Gengigel is
a unique topical application product that
reduces inflammation in a wide variety
of conditions that occur in the mouth.
It therefore provides clinicians with a
very useful preparation for use by their
patients who don't respond to scaling and
cleaning of their teeth, or have a variety
of medical conditions that cause the gums
to get inflamed.”
